I take looking after your personal information seriously. This page explains what I collect, why, and what your rights are, as simply as possible.

Who I am
This website is run by Louise Bowie, trading as Louise Bowie Marketing, a marketing consultant based in Hampshire. I am the data controller for the personal information collected through this website, which means I decide how it is used and I am responsible for looking after it.
If you have any questions about this policy or your information, please email me at louisebowiemarketing@outlook.com.
What information I collect
When you get in touch
If you use my contact form or email me, I collect your name, email address, business name and anything you choose to tell me in your message.
When you sign up for tips or a free guide
If you sign up for my emails or download a free guide, I collect your name and email address, along with a record that you agreed to hear from me.
When you work with me
If you become a client, I keep the contact and billing details I need to work with you, plus information about the work we do together.
When you visit the website
If you accept cookies, I use tools that collect information about how you use the website, such as the pages you visit, roughly where you are and the device you use. See the cookies section below.
How I use your information and why
| What I use it for | My lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry | Legitimate interests, as you asked me to get in touch |
| Sending marketing tips, updates and free guides | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Providing services to clients and invoicing | To carry out our contract |
| Keeping business and tax records | Legal obligation |
| Understanding how the website is used and improving my advertising | Your consent, given through the cookie message |
I will never sell your information, and I will only send you marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe.
Who I share it with
I only share your information with trusted services that help me run my business. They can only use it to provide their service to me:
- Netlify, which hosts this website and processes contact form messages
- HubSpot, which stores my contacts and sends my emails
- Google, for Google Analytics, if you accept cookies
- Meta, for the Meta Pixel, which helps measure my Facebook and Instagram advertising, if you accept cookies
- Google Ads, which helps measure my Google advertising and show my ads to people who have visited the website, if you accept cookies
- My accountant and any professional advisers, where needed
Some of these companies store information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where this happens, they use safeguards approved under UK data protection law to protect your information.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries: up to 12 months after we last spoke, unless you become a client
- Email list: until you unsubscribe
- Client records: six years after our work ends, as required for tax and accounting
Cookies
When you first visit, a message asks whether you are happy for me to use cookies. If you click Accept, I use Google Analytics to understand how people use the website, and the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tag to measure my advertising and show my ads to people who have visited the website. If you click No thanks, these are not loaded.
Your choice is remembered in your browser. To change your mind, clear your browser's data for this website and the message will appear again.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct anything that is wrong
- ask me to delete your information
- ask me to limit how I use it, or object to me using it
- ask me to send your information to another organisation
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from my emails
To use any of these rights, just email me at louisebowiemarketing@outlook.com. I will reply within one month.
Keeping your information safe
I use secure, reputable services, keep my devices and accounts protected, and only keep the information I actually need.
Making a complaint
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please get in touch first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
